Lorenzo Lio was born in Milano. He studied recorder at the Scuola Civica of his native town and musicology at the University of Cremona. He holds a Bachelor degree in recorder from the Royal Conservatory in the Hague (2006) and a Diplôme de concert from the Conservatoire of Lausanne (2009).

First prize winner at the ERTA Italia competition in 2009, he has performed both as soloist and as member of different ensembles, such as Accademia Bizantina, Silete Venti, Accademia d'Arcadia, PRIME Ensemble. From 2008 to 2015 he has been teaching recorder at Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano.

Since his study time in Holland, Lorenzo has started cultivating his interest for recorder making and historical recorders and later on established his own workshop.

Since 2015 Lorenzo works at Küng Blockflötenmanufaktur in Schaffhausen where he's in charge of voicing and repairings recorders. He lives and works in Sankt Gallen (Switzerland).
